UCSC Arts & Ecology Festival
Taylor will be giving a 5 min Lightning Talk on his work and the early findings at the Green Exchange and have a table at the festival.
The Festival is held at the Digital Arts Research Center on the UCSC Campus.
UC Davis Design Alumni Day
Taylor will be visiting his Alma mater, UC Davis as a keynote speaker at the UC Davis Design Alumni Day.
As an undergraduate, Taylor was a Design Program Student, and he’ll be sharing his experience with current and graduating students of the program.

Future Forum ep. 12: Rights of Nature
Taylor Lahey and Jennalee Dahlen will join Future Forum to share their work on the Green Exchange.
At this forum, Future Forum will share their path to date and present the options they've explored for anchoring Rights of Nature policy here in Santa Cruz — including potential ecosystems and species such as the San Lorenzo River, salmon, and wildlife corridors.
Vegan dinner provided between 5:30-6pm, arrive early! Future Forum exists to support the Monterey Bay Area in building resilience and regeneration through education, engagement, and action.

This gathering is for newcomers interested in sitting in their first circle and meet members of the Santa Cruz ManKind Project community. The ManKind Project is a nonprofit global network of over 1,000 peer-facilitated men’s groups, where groups of men support each other through the passages of their lives. For one night only, meet the creative genius behind the internationally acclaimed children’s book, Câmbio. During this intimate evening, join celebrated author Taylor Lahey as he shares the rich story behind crafting his historical fiction.
What started as a research trip to Brazil evolved into an experience with a city’s time-tested sustainability program. Taylor’s work now sits at the intersection of art, urbanism, and environmental change and aims to reconnect people with their communities, their environment, and their shared humanity.
Materials: Light refreshments will be served prior to the start of the program.
Class Fee: $9 – Museum Members receive a special discounted price applied at checkout.

The Museum’s 120th Birthday Party!
To celebrate, we’re throwing a huge birthday party for August’s First Friday!
Join some of the most influential and distinguished Santa Cruz and Watsonville community partners for a night of games, arts and crafts, music, and so much more. Learn about the impacts made by these partners throughout the County and our shared collaborative histories over the years.
As a special treat, there will be a storytime with internationally acclaimed children’s book author, Taylor Lahey. To spotlight the Museum’s commitment to environmental education for all ages, Taylor will be reading his book about youth-driven environmental activism which shows anyone, no matter the age, can make a positive impact in the world!
PLUS, this wouldn’t be a party without a FREE dessert station! We’ll have a sweets bar for the kiddos and an open bar for the adults. In addition to the festivities, there will be information on upcoming programs, the opportunity to experience our special redwood exhibit, and to explore special seasonal items in the Gift Shop.

Summer is in full swing, and the Museum is inviting your entire family to celebrate the sunny season with us!
Soak up the sun with family-friendly festivities, food, and fun. Kids of all ages will enjoy an afternoon of live music, arts and crafts, sweet treats, live animals, and so much more! This event runs from 11 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., with shows taking place in the amphitheater throughout the day and activity stations located across Tyrrell Park. As a bonus, there will be free admission to the Museum, so you won’t miss the excitement taking place inside, too!
